現代吸血鬼獵人電影的老祖宗。題材仍是漢默相當拿手的吸血鬼，只是這回融合了劍客電影元素，獵殺吸血鬼的不是如凡赫辛般書卷味濃厚的老博士角色，而是一位武藝高強、英俊瀟灑的上尉。本片節奏對今日觀眾來說或許偏慢，不過故事鋪陳仍屬於老派式的認真，也算是別有風味。
